David's Green 21 - POA 6
On a day when both teams were short players, David’s Green's players found a way to each have multiple hits, but leading the way was Larry Turkel who had 4 hits including 2 doubles and driving in 5 runs. Also pitched very well to lead the team to its 4th win of the season.

Pickled Herring 21 - POA 1
Noonan's 9 - Dynasty 2
After giving up 2 runs in the top half of the first inning, Noonan’s pitcher, Lou “Loopy” Pitchinson threw 8 scoreless innings and Noonan’s offense rose to the occasion by scoring 9 runs making the final score 9-2. The 7 run differential was Noonan’s largest this year as they have been in close games since the start of the season. The Noonies offense was led by “Hoover” Gluck’s 3-4 which included a single, triple and homer, leading to 4 RBIs. The only time he was retired was on a LONG fly ball to left which was run down and caught by the left fielder. Nice play left fielder! “Loopy" Pitchinson added 2 RBIs, along with his shut down pitching performance. Chipping in with an RBI apiece were Vinny La and "Big Dave” Franknecht and Vinny Ferrante's double play grounder added another run. Sorry Vinny, no RBI, but much appreciated! ??
Good team defense by all the Noonies helped to attain their 9th victory of the year.
Although Dynasty hits were hard to come by, Grant Elman broke out with a 2-for-3 day. Good defensive plays on the right side of the infield by Joe Verga and Andy Gerstein contributed to holding the Noonies scoreless for five of the eight innings.
David's Red 13 - Seneca 10
Seneca 17 - YES 12
In one of the more interesting contests of the year, the Seneca Slashers defeated the undefeated YES Group 14-4 erasing an early 4-0 deficit. Big shout out to a classy YES squad who started the season with 8 straight victories. Great Job by Captain Fred Charleston and Co-captain Tom Venanzi guiding the team to an 8-0 record.

Peter Balling Led the Yes Group with 3 hits and 2 RBI. Alan Steinberg expertly worked 2 key BB to keep the respective innings alive.
As a Board Member it is always good to report that there were no injuries. And remind everyone we are truly Blessed to play the game we love at our respective ages.
Noonan's 8 - David's Green 7
In one of the more bizarre endings to a game, Noonan’s Noonies held on to defeat David’s Green by a score of 8-7. With Noonan’s up 7-2 to start the 6th inning, David’s Green began to chip away Noonan’s lead with 2 runs in the 6th and 2 runs in the 8th. Noonan’s countered with one run of their own in the bottom half of the 8th making it an 8-6 lead. That 8th run batted in by Roger Dantoni turned out to be the game winner as David’s Green scored again in the top of the 9th to cut the lead to 8-7 and had the tying run rounding third with 2 outs but the runner decided not to take the chance of being thrown out at the plate. The problem with that was that the runner had passed the orange cone by a step and was deemed “committed” to go home (never liked that rule!). The throw came into home plate and Ray Gwertzman stepped on home and then tagged the runner for good measure. The ump ruled it an out and the game ended on that call. Tough way to lose a game.
The Noonies’ offense was led by Pete “The Hammer” Joseph with 2 singles, a double and a triple and 2 RBIs and Vinny LaBarbera’s 3 singles and Noel “Hoover” Gluck’s solo home run (his 4th homer in the last 5 games!). Captain Ray added 2 two out RBIs. Steve Cherches (great defense) and Vinny Ferrante also added an RBI each.
David’s Green played well, but came up short against Noonan’s. Stan Chorney and Ken Sariego had 3 hits apiece in a losing effort.
David's Red 8 - Dynasty 2

Then the top of the order goes 5 straight hits to score 7 runs with only 1 out, to make it 11-1. The best plays of the game was Jack Litsky throwing from the outfield two ground balls knock down in the infield and was on top to get the runner’s out at first base. A nice heads up play. And again Brian Deneroff pitched a solid game.
POA fought hard in another tough loss. Russ Krauss led POA with double and a home run while Sandy Smith chipped in with 3 hits and an RBI.

David's Red 7 - Noonan's 5
YES 13 - Pickled Herring 4
Again pitching and defense leading the way. Pitcher Brian Deneroff (Game MVP along with Tony D’Angelo) was solid once again. After Pickled led 4-3 after 3 innings, the Yes pitching and defense shut Pickled down the next 6 innings. The Yes Group chipped away scoring ten more runs from their entire team effort. Also the catching duo of Lippman and Jesselli kept Deneroff on spot.
Pickled Herring was led by Pete Quaglierini with 3 RBIS, Larry Farina with 3 hits and 2 runs, and a solid SS, Alan Blumenthal 3 hits and a run scored. And a nice Diving catch by John Watts which ended a bases loaded rally. Both teams showed good sportsmanship and as always a pleasure being able to play against. Will attempt to put on YouTube some highlights.
Dynasty 10 - POA 5
It’s three “W’s” in a row for Dynasty Advisors, courtesy of a 6 run 4th inning that kept the team in the lead for the remainder of the contest. On the offense, Bob Bykofsky supplied 3 hits to the cause, along with a Marty McFeely home run. Joe Verga blasted a screamer into right field for his first triple of the season, driving in 2 runs in the process. Mike Leonardi’s defensive alignments were a huge factor in the victory, aided by a slick running catch from Alan Feinberg.
POA played another hard-fought game with some quality defensive plays and another strong pitching effort from Mitch Garson.
David's Red 5 - POA 3
In a closely fought game. POA's rally came up short. Russ Krauss had a monster HR to lead POA. Mitch Garson pitched well in this tough loss
Dynasty 13 - David's Green 12
Another squeaker was played in the second meeting this year between Dynasty and David’s Green, again decided by only one run with the tying run on base at the end of the game. It was good fortune that paved the way to victory in last inning for Dynasty when Bob Tannenbaum picked up a dribbler that barely stuck in fair territory for an easy out at first. Mike Leonardi once again led the offense with a timely 2-run homer, along with the hot bat of John Gunn’s 3 for 4. Five other batters had 2 hits apiece.
Excellent hitting by George Rothweiler and Joe Lopez in a close but losing cause.
Noonan's 14 - Pickled Herring 11
Noonan’s Noonies continued their winning ways with a 2 game sweep, playing both games in the same week, of Pickled Herring by a score of 14-11. It was a seesaw battle between the two teams with Pickle scoring one run in the top of the 1st inning while Noonan’s answered with 4 of their own in the bottom half to take a 4-1 lead. The lead was short-lived as Pickle scored 5 more runs in their half of the 3rd and Noonan’s countered with one in the bottom half giving Pickle its second lead of the game 6-5. Noonan’s recovered the lead scoring 2 more in the 5th inning. Pickle then took back the lead in the 6th with 5 more runs and the Noonies fought back with 3 runs in their half making the score 11-10 in favor of the Fish. However, Noonan’s, once again, answered the call scoring 4 runs in the 7th with the highlight coming on a 2 run home run by Noel “Hoover” Gluck. With Noonan’s now leading 14-11, Lou P shut down Pickle in the last 2 innings to preserve the win.
Noonan’s offense was led by Vinny La’s 4/4 which included 3 singles, a triple and 4 rbi’s. ”Hoover” went 3-3 with a single, triple, homer and walk and 2 rbi’s. Steve Cherches added a single, double with 2 runs scored. Alan Blumenthal, John Watts and Michael George each had 3 hits leading the PH offense. Glen Shoenig gave a steady pitching performance while also adding a couple of timely hits.
YES 13 - Seneca 8
Another well played game from two competing teams. The pitching and defense both led the way again. Jack LItsky (Game MVP) pitched a solid game subbing for Brian Deneroff who’s enjoying his Daughters wedding in Las Vegas. The defense was led from the infield with help from the outfield with 3 DP’S. Hitting stars were Tom Venanzi 5/5, 3 runs, 2 RBIs, a double, and a triple, Ed Lacina 2/4 with 1 run and 1 RBI, Scott Sokoloski 2/4 with a run, 2 RBIs, and a solid first base, Pete Balling 3 runs, 3 RBIs, and Dominick Ciacciarelli 3RBIs. Seneca Slashers competed well but fell short. They pounded out 15 hits led from Glenn Feldman who pitched well and collected 4 hits and 2 RBIs. Mark Lair chipped in with 3 hits and an RBI. Joe Dougherty 2 hits, an RBI and a run scored. Both teams showed competitive spirit and sportsmanship as always.
Noonan's 13 - Pickled Herring 7
Noonan’s Noonies stayed perfect on the season with their 6th consecutive triumph outdueling Pickled Herring by a score of 13-7. The Noonies pounded out 20 hits (some not traveling more than 40 feet??) but they all look like line drives in the box score! The Noonies were led by Noel “Hoover” Gluck’s 4 for 4 which included 1 single, 2 triples, 1 home run and a walk, which produced 3 rbi’s and 3 runs scored. Steve Cherches went 3 for 5 with 2 singles, a double, 2 rbi’s and 3 runs scored and Vinnie Labarbera added 2 singles and a triple with 4 rbi’s. Pete “Hammer” Joseph’s 3 singles and sac fly added another rbi. Noonan’s trailed 3-2 until they scored 4 in the 4th putting them ahead by 3. Larry Farina had 3 hits and an rbi as well.
Dynasty 19 - Seneca 5
Our league’s newest team finally showed its true potential with a 28-hit, 19 run barrage against the Seneca Slashers that put their first win of the season on the board. The Dynasty boys took an early lead, as much as 15-0 before inevitably surrendering some late inning runs to the Slashers, who never gave up. Although solid defense was, and has been the hallmark of Dynasty, the bats woke up from their slumber with every player getting at least one hit. Individually, the Always Amazing Mike Flynn was 4 for 4 with an impressive 6 RBI. Others in the 4-hit club were leadoff man Steve Behrman and with the hottest bat on the team, John Gunn. And notably, Mike Leonardi popped a triple in the seventh.
In a tough, one-sided loss, the Seneca Slashers were led by Leo Friedlich coming in and pitching a shutout for his first three innings. Leo also added 3 hits. Santiago Henrique and Joe Dougherty added 2 hits apiece.
Hats off to Marty McFeely and Paul Rosenheim guiding their team to their first victory. Class bunch of gentlemen!
YES 11 - David's Green 3
Again, pitching and defense led the way for The Yes Group. Pitcher Brian Defendorf was solid again and defensively the outfield of Ed Lacina, Tom Venanzi, Jack LItsky, and Steve Jesselli corralled numerous fly balls. The infield again did the same. Yes was led with 17 hits by Ed Lacina (3/3, 2 HRS, a nintentional walk 2r, 5 RBIs), Jack LItsky (3/4, 2Rs), Tom Venanzi (2/4,- 2Rs), Pete Balling (2/4, 2Rs, 3 RBIs), Tony D’Angelo (2/3, 2Rs, 2RBIs, a walk), Dominick Ciacciarelli (2/4), and Alan Steinberg (1/3, 1 RBI). A solid team contribution.
David's Green turned 3 double plays to stop rallies, and showed good sportsmanship no matter the outcome of the game. Always a pleasure to play against Green and Good Luck for the remainder of the season.
YES 12 - David's Red 11
“A Come Back Walk Off Win”
With Yes ahead 7-3 after 5 innings, David’s chipped away to make it 7-6 going into the 9th inning. Both teams saved their best till the 9th. David’s scored 5 in the 9th to take a comfortable 4 run lead. But The Yes Group had different plans. Tony Tepedino's lead off single and Fred Charleston's single started things off. After Jack Litsky's infield fly popped out, Tom Venanzi (2/4, 3 runs, an RBI) got on board from a throwing error. Pete Balling (3/4, 2 runs, 3 RBIs) hit into a fielder's choice for the 2nd out. It didn’t look good but with 3 straight hits from Tony D’Angelo (3/4, 2 runs, 2 RBIS), Ed Lacina (2/4, 1 run, 3 RBIS), and game winning walk off from Dominick Ciacciarelli (2/4, 2 winning RBIs) saved the day. Other highlights were Tom Venanzi's sliding outfield line drive catches and Mark Lippman throw out to second base to catch David Van Wart and to stop a rally that kept David’s from running the bases (which they did very well).
David’s was also led by the slick fielding of 2nd baseman Rich Jacobs who played flawlessly. A well played game from both teams and good sportsmanship from all. Also, The Yes Group pitcher Brian Deneroff was solid on the mound who also played his position flawless. A total team effort from all players who will enjoy the game in YouTube.
Pickled Herring 15 - David's Green 12
Noonan's 7 - POA 6
In one of the more exciting and riveting games of the early season, which took 10 innings to complete, Noonan’s Noonies prevailed once more with a walk off victory over POA by a score of 7-6, allowing them to remain undefeated at 5-0! With the score knotted at 6 apiece entering the bottom of the 10th inning, Noel Gluck worked out a walk but was quickly erased on a 4-6-3 double play. Peter Joseph, who also had a single and a double, then drew a 2 out walk allowing the recently erased baserunner, Hoover Gluck to pinch run for him. Roger Dantoni promptly singled to right field and the race was on as Hoover motored around the bases sliding into 3rd base, arriving at the same time as the ball, which allowed the ball to roll about 6 feet away. Gluck sprung up and continued his mad dash home narrowly beating the throw. Game over! Gluck yeah! Gluck’s final totals read 3 for 3 which included a double, triple, 2 run homer, and a walk. Roger Dantoni, Bobby Harris and Lou P all chipped in with 2 hits apiece. Lou P, once again, pitched a beauty of a game!

Dynasty had a late inning surge but fell short. Led by John Gunn, Mike Leonardi, and Steve Behrman with 3 hits each. And Marty Mcfeely and Mike Flynn’s back to back triple and Home Run made a gallant ending of a well played game from all players.
David's Green 20 - POA 12
Noonans's 5 - Senaca 4
Noonan’s Noonies won for the 4th consecutive game to start the season coming back from a 4-0 deficit with 3 runs in the 5th and 2 runs in the 7th inning to reward Lou P’s stellar pitching performance. In a tightly contested game, the Noonies were led by the clutch hitting of Noel “Hoover” Gluck and Peter “The Hammer” Joseph as each doubled in 2 runs apiece. Joseph’s double scoring 2 runs, narrowly missing a home run, was run down in center field at the fence by Rich Delvecchio who made a valiant effort to catch the blast but couldn’t hold it as he collided with the fence and the fence won! Great effort Rich and glad you weren’t injured. "Big Dave" Franknecht knocked in a run with a single and also added a walk in this low scoring game. The Noonie’s defense was led by 3 excellent catches by right fielder Gina Braconi.
